Court Toon: The Cost Of Citzenship

A group of eight senators offered up their immigration-reform plan on Monday, one day ahead of President Obama’s immigration bill announcement  in Las Vegas.  A portion of the plan includes passing a background check, paying a fine and back taxes, and getting no access to federal public benefits until full citizenship is granted. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, a tea party-backed conservative considered a rising star in the Republican Party, said the goal of the framework he helped put together was a “modern immigration system” that treated everyone fairly, both the undocumented and those waiting to come to America legally.
