Man Who Confessed To Killing Of Etan Patz Is Indicted For Murder
The man who confessed to the 1979 killing of Etan Patz was indicted on Wednesday for the 6-year-old child’s kidnapping and murder, his defense lawyer said.
Reuters reports a state grand jury in Manhattan indicted Pedro Hernandez on charges of second-degree murder, felony murder and kidnapping, his lawyer Harvey Fishbein said prosecutors told him.
Patz disappeared on May 25, 1979, on his first walk alone to the bus on his way to school.
Some 33 years later, Hernandez, who at the time worked at a deli near the Patz home in Soho, confessed in May to luring the boy and strangling him.
